Privacy Policy
Your privacy is fundamental to everything we build.
Last updated: 14 February 2026
Overview
Insight4 Pet Insurance ("the App") is designed with privacy at its core. The App processes all data entirely on your device. We do not operate backend servers that collect, store, or process your personal data or usage information.
This Privacy Policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data We Collect
1.1 Data Processed On-Device
The following data is processed and stored exclusively on your device:
- RSS/Atom Feed Content: The App fetches publicly available RSS and Atom feeds from third-party news sources. Article titles, summaries, publication dates, and source URLs are downloaded directly to your device.
- User Preferences: Your settings, including appearance preferences, digest time, brief window, enabled sources, and watchlist items, are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- Article Interactions: Bookmarks, read status, and feedback ratings (thumbs up/down) are stored locally on your device to improve article relevance over time.
- Tags and Categories: Articles are automatically tagged and categorised on your device using a local keyword dictionary. No cloud-based AI or machine learning services are used.
1.2 Sign in with Apple
If you choose to sign in using Sign in with Apple, Apple provides us with a unique, anonymous identifier. We do not receive your real email address unless you choose to share it. Sign in is entirely optional — you can use the App without creating an account.
1.3 Data We Do Not Collect
We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:
- We do not collect analytics or usage data
- We do not track which articles you read
- We do not collect device identifiers or fingerprints
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
- We do not transmit any data to our servers or any third party
- We do not collect your location data
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or other device data
2. How Your Data Is Used
All data processed by the App is used solely to provide functionality to you:
- Feed Aggregation: RSS/Atom feeds are fetched directly from their source to display news content in the App.
- Personalisation: Your preferences and feedback are used on-device to customise the Daily Brief, filter content, and improve article relevance scoring.
- Watchlist Matching: Your watchlist keywords are matched against article content on-device to highlight relevant stories.
- Data Retention: Articles are retained on your device for up to 90 days. Bookmarked articles are retained indefinitely until you remove them.
3. Data Storage and Security
All App data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework, which benefits from iOS's built-in encryption and security protections. When you delete the App, all associated data is removed from your device.
Because we do not operate servers or databases, there is no risk of server-side data breaches affecting your information.
4. Third-Party Services
The App accesses the following third-party services:
- RSS/Atom Feed Providers: The App makes standard HTTP requests to publicly available RSS and Atom feeds from news publishers. These requests are made directly from your device, and the feed providers may log your IP address in accordance with their own privacy policies.
- Apple Sign In: If you choose to sign in, the authentication is handled by Apple's servers in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store: The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, which is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is designed for professional use and is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
6. Your Rights
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times:
- Access: All your data is visible within the App's interface and settings.
- Deletion: You can delete individual bookmarks and watchlist items within the App. Deleting the App removes all associated data from your device.
- Portability: You can share individual articles using the built-in share functionality.
- Modification: You can modify your preferences, watchlist, and feedback at any time through the App's settings.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have additional rights regarding your personal data. However, as we do not collect or process personal data on our servers, these rights are primarily exercised through your direct control of the App and your device.
7. International Data Transfers
The App does not transfer any personal data internationally. RSS feed requests are made directly from your device to the feed providers, which may be hosted in various countries. No personal data is included in these requests beyond your device's IP address.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
